In this assignment you need to define an English teacher from your own perspective using a metaphor or a simile and illustrate your definition by giving examples and providing details. For example, an English teacher is (like)a facilitator because he/she is in a position to help students achieve their maximum potential in their own learning process and to manage their learning process and to direct them to find ways to discover their own learning styles, their favourite ways of learning and to be successful.He is also a role model that student aspires to imitate in that he/she sets up a good example of a good language learner.
An English teacher is a guide. he shows the way to learn the language to the students and guide them to improve themselves. the teacher gives the students a space to express themselves and create their own ideas.
ReplyDeleteI associate the teacher with circus performance with animals; performing person in one hand and the animals in another. It is like the person who is working with animals should consider everything around shelter for animals, their everyday needs and their everyday mood and act according to their mood because animals are very painly react to the bad actions of the people. According to this we can suppose that the person should consider everything related to their animals because as we know animals do not understand the speech of the people so the person should instinctively understand what the animals need. The teacher also should consider everything during the class because not all students can express what they really want. So the teacher should also intuitively understand the needs of the students and act according their behavior. If the teacher understands his/her students it will be easy for her/him to teach and get their goal.
ReplyDeleteAn English teacher is like a puppeteer particularly in the very first steps of teaching English. As the students know nothing about the language that they learn, they are like puppets whose strings the teacher pulls. So if the teacher pulls the right string, the puppet does the right thing. If the puppeteer says something correct, then the puppet will say the thing in the same way.
ReplyDeleteAn English teacher is like a gardener, knowing every flower (Ss), what they need. Not every plant likes little or a lot of water, or any kind of soil with any kind of fertilizer. So a teacher has to know about his students, and give them right kind of thing to make them blossom.

She is also an actor in a circus who does not refrain from acting like an apple, a lion or any other person or thing to attract her students’attention to the lesson and tries to create a fun and interesting lesson.
ReplyDeleteI believe that learning a language is similar to learning their mother tongue.Therefore, I want the pupils to make mistakes and to generalize things as they do at home while learning L1. In addition I see the school as a big famiy and the teachers like mothers and fathers.Thus my methaphor is parent for the teacher.
ReplyDeleteAccording to me teacher is always a role model for her students in all aspects. When it requies, she should guide, encurage, motivate, facilitate or help them. When needed she can be a friend for her students without losing her control over the class.

When a ship arrives a harbour, it hopes to explore a new world, a new place.Students expect the same things from their teachers. They want information, advice,guidance and instruction.Teachers open the door of knowledge to the students.

ReplyDeletea teacher is like a cook. he should balance the ingredents or the taste will not be good. If he puts an ingredent more and the other less, he will not catch the ideal taste. for example, if he puts to much pressure on the student, he will not be a good teacher.

ReplyDeleteAs a guide,teacher should have enough information about both his/her branch and his/her students because a teacher should be a professional in his/her area of teaching and should be informed about his/her students in order to guide them properly.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, in the classroom teacher should be student – centered as we all know that students learn everything by doing and experiencing on their own.
An English teacher is a passionate lover. S/he loves both the language and the learners desperately. Like a lover, she always supports the learners to achieve their goal, that is, language acquisition. By knowing them well, she tries to prepare materials to attract their interests and make them motivated like the presents of the lover. S/he tries to make them happy and enjoyed in the classroom with her/his calm, tolerance and smiling face. An English teacher feeds his/her learners with comprehensible and ample language input. Of course, each teacher has own teaching philosophy because everybody has different touches.
